Dr. Lane Easter, DVM, Diplomate ACVS


Dr. Lane Easter is a board certified surgeon (Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons) and co-owner of Performance Equine Associates. He specializes in lameness and orthopedic surgery of the western performance horse.

Dr. Easter was raised in a cattle ranching and agriculturally based family. He grew up both in the panhandle of Texas and in Jack County near Jacksboro, Texas. Dr. Easter graduated from high school in Jacksboro, Texas and entered college at Tarleton State University. He graduated from college at Texas A&M University where he then entered Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. He earned the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1993. Upon graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Easter went to work for Katy Equine Clinic in Katy, Texas under the guidance of Dr. Mike Heitmann. After 2 years in general equine practice, he entered a surgical residency at Texas A&M with Dr. Jeff Watkins as his mentor. Dr. Easter finished his residency in 1998 and became a faculty surgeon at Texas A&M for one year. He became board certified in veterinary surgery in 1999. Dr. Easter left Texas A&M for private practice in 1999 and currently owns Performance Equine Associates.

Dr. Easter is married to Kristie Easter (practice manager). Dr. Easter's interests outside of veterinary medicine include packing mules, hunting elk and deer, fly fishing, hunting quail behind good bird dogs, and roping. He has a son, Martin Easter, and a daughter, Jessica Sinclair.

Dr. Tyler Troop, DVM


Dr. Tyler Troop is an associate veterinarian and co-owner of Performance Equine Associates. Dr. Troop’s practice is comprised of both ambulatory and in-hospital veterinary medicine.  His primary interests are lameness, reproduction, and dentistry in the western performance horse.

Dr. Troop did his undergraduate work at Texas Tech University, and then went on to graduate from Oklahoma State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010.  After graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Troop spent one year at Equine Veterinary Clinic in Marietta, OK, focusing primarily on ambulatory medicine.

Dr. Troop was raised in southern Oklahoma and lives in Marietta, OK now with his family. Dr. Troop’s primary interest outside of veterinary medicine is his family.  He is married toJill Troop, and they have two sons, Tate & Rhyder Troop.  He also enjoys team roping, hunting, shooting skeet, fly fishing, and good reining horses.

Dr. Shem Oliver, DVM

Dr. Shem Oliver is a board-certified surgeon (Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons) and junior partner at Performance Equine Associates in Thackerville, OK. Dr. Oliver's professional interests are orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, sports medicine, and diagnostic imaging of the performance horse. Dr. Oliver was raised on a cattle ranch, in Eastern NM, near Fort Sumner. After graduating high school, he attended Oklahoma State University where he earned both a Bachelors in Animal Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation from veterinary school in 2010, Dr. Oliver accepted an internship at Oakridge Equine in Edmond, OK, where he trained under Drs. Mike Major and Brent Hague. In 2011, he entered a 3 year large animal surgery residency at Texas A&M University under the mentorship of Dr. Jeff Watkins and many other great surgeons.

Dr. Oliver joined Performance Equine Associates in 2014 and became board certified in large animal surgery in 2015.

Outside of work, Dr. Oliver enjoys spending time with his family. His wife Lauren, who isoriginally from Ardmore, teaches at Plainview Elementary. Together they have 2 daughters, Emma and Reese. Dr. Oliver also enjoys hunting, fly-fishing, golfing, skiing, and rooting for Oklahoma State sports teams.

Brian Schnell, DVM

Dr. Brian Schnell is the most recent addition to the team at Performance Equine Associates. Dr. Schnell’s primary interests are reproduction and broodmare management, internal medicine, and western performance horse sports medicine.

Dr. Schnell is originally from northeast Wisconsin where he grew up working on dairy farms. He attended the University of Wisconsin Madison for his undergraduate studies and was accepted early into the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine, achieving his DVM in 2018. Although Dr. Schnell grew up in the dairy state working cattle, his true passion is working with western performance horses.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Schnell enjoys roping, tooling leather, and spending time outdoors.


 Ximena Calva, MVZ

Dr. Ximena Calva is from Mexico City. She studied Veterinary Medicine at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. She worked for 1 year at The Donkey Sanctuary that is a nonprofit organization, which does ambulatory medicine in donkeys, mules and horses. After that she went to work at an equine hospital in Lexington, Kentucky for a year, in ambulatory medicine. She worked as a veterinarian in México for 7 years, mainly in ambulatory medicine. Her primary interests are internal medicine, neonatology, and medical emergencies.

Currently, she’s doing her internship at Performance Equine Associates and plans to stay on with PEA as a Resident Veterinarian. 

Dr. Calva’s interests outside of veterinary medicine include her family, friends, and swimming.



Meet our Staff


Kristie Easter, Practice Manager

Kristie Easter is the practice manager and Dr Easter's wife of 5 years. They have a daughter, Jessica and son, Martin.

Kristie has worked for performance equine since 2001 starting as a technician, advanced to assistant in 2003. Then, after a short break for maternity, returned to work as the practice manager in 2010.

She enjoys camping, riding, and arts.



Courtney Ridgeway, Office Manager

Courtney Ridgeway is originally from Atlanta GA. She moved to Oklahoma in 2013 and started working at Performance Equine in 2016. She was an assistant for Dr. Troop and Dr. Easter. In 2017 she took over the front office manager position at PEA.

Courtney enjoys photography, fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends.
